Activity on the Sun’s surface creates a type of weather called SPACE WEATHER.
The Sun is really far away—about 93 million miles (150 million kilometers)—from Earth. However, space weather can affect Earth and the rest of the solar system. Space weather is mostly unpredictable however some paramters are used to issue warnings as those given by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in the US. Space weather can cause damage to satellites, space electronic systems and humans in space. It is critical thus to have in place robust strategies to prevent and counteract any of its harmful effects specially in regards to space missions both manned and unmanned and most specially when approaching and during the solar maximum parts of the solar cycles.
